Sahgal selected to review medication and received an MBBS degree from Madras Medical faculty in 1938. A year later, she received her certification in gynaecology and medicine. She worked as a doctor within the Government Kasturba Gandhi Hospital set at Triplicane Chennai.

Personal Life of Lakshmi Sahgal:

Sahgal married Prem Kumar Sahgal in March 1947 in Lahore. When their wedding, they settled in Kanpur, wherever she continued along with her medical practice and assisted the refugees who were incoming in massive numbers following the Partition of Bharat. They had 2 daughters who were named Subhashini Ali and Anisa Puri.

Subhashini could be an outstanding Communist politician and labor activist. In step with Ali, Sahgal was an atheist. The film producer Shaad Ali is her grandchild.

Death of Lakshmi Sahgal:

On nineteen July 2012, Sahgal suffered a cardiopulmonary arrest and died on twenty-three July 2012 at 11:20 A.M. at the age of ninety-seven at Kanpur. Her body was given to Kanpur Medical school for medical analysis. Captain Lakshmi Sehgal International airdrome is planned at Kanpur Dehat district.
