Indian Institute of Technology Mandi Himachal Pradesh, the Indian Institute of Technology IIT-Mandi is an independent top-Ranking engineering and technology university. The Ministry of Human Resource Development has established eight IITs from which IIT-Mandi is one of them. The government of India declared that the eight IITs with a conversation of Institute of Technology and Banaras Hindu University to IIT under the Institute of Technology ACT, 2011 which was passed in Lok Sabha on 24th March 2011 and in Rajya Sabha on 30th April 2012.
IIT Roorkee arranges the first batch of applicants also the IIT-Mandi is advised by it. IIT-Mandi campus is Under establishment along with Uhl River. There is various program for candidates such as B.Tech, M.S, and Ph.D., etc. The applicant can take anyone’s program of it whichever they want. The first director of IIT-Mandi is Timothy A. Gonsalves, and the first Registrar of IIT-Mandi is R. C. Sawhney.
By publications per faculty, the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi ranks third after the IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur and ranks sixth among all the IITs.
History of IIT Mandi:
On 24th of Feb 2009, the site for permanent Campus IIT-Mandi took place and on the 20th of June 2009 in Uttarakhand IIT-Mandi was register as a society. In July 2009 the first batch student’s admissions were started and on the 27th of July 2009 classes took place in IIT Roorkee. On the 16th of Nov 2009, the Himachal Pradesh Government leave the Mandi. From all the new IITs the Mandi was the first to turn completely on B. Tech to its permanent campus in Kamand, On the 25th of April 2015.
The campus of IIT Mandi:
From Mandi town, the permanent Campus is about 15 km away. On the banks of the Uhl River, there are forested hills of demand where the Campus is located. The government of Himachal Pradesh has issue 565 acres of land for the Campus. Nowadays the South Campus is practical and also most of the faculty, applicants and the staff inhabit here. On the other hand, also the North Campus is established at a beautiful place and initiate to become practical with new faculty, PG applicants, and Director. At the North Campus altogether 50 buildings constructed, The school building, 01 hostel, residential blocks, 02 blocks of Staff quarters are set.
On 24th Oct 2016, the Director of IIT has to move the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi from South Campus to North Campus with some faculty members.
Permanent Campus of IIT Mandi:
Among all the new IITs, IIT Madni is the first to shift residential and academic facilities to the Main Campus. The Campus is establishing a supportive infrastructure. There is a total of 538 acres of the campus of IIT Madni among which only 200 acres are flat land, and rest are a mountain. The work has given to CPWD, and NBCC which have established five academic blocks, ten hostels, two dining hall in south campus and also they have added two new 2BHK faculty buildings, two new 3BHK, and the studio apartments.
On 29th Oct 2016, Staff Recreation Club and Faculty were initiated. To finish the development of campus the plan is set to serve for 5000 students, 600 faculties, and associated staff.

Renuka Hall: IIT-Mandi girls hostel.
Beas Kund Hall: IIT-Mandi research scholar boys hostel.
The Vallabh Degree College is on the edge of unused as the temporary campus is about to shift to Kamand in the future.
Academics of IIT Mandi:
IIT-Mandi also held various programs such as a bachelor’s degree in Technology (B.Tech.) like all other conducts. A postgraduate program such as Master of Science and Master of Science(Research)
Is also provided by IIT-Mandi. It also provides a Ph.D. program for cutting edge research in basics sciences such as chemical sciences, physical sciences as well as in disciplines of engineering. Between two-semester the academic year is organized. 10-point CGPA scale is followed by IIT-Mandi, with all exam which consists of two mid-semester exam called an end-semester exam and Quizzes. Besides this, the courses may include self-study assignments, tutorials, and regular surprise quizzes, short projects, term papers.
Undergraduate programs of IIT Mandi:
At present days, four disciplines are available for Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) in IIT-Mandi.
They are as follows:
3-Computer Science and Engineering
The admission of the applicant is done by their result of JEE-Advanced, like all other IITs and (JEE) Joint Entrance Examination is the second stage examination, which is an all India engineering entrance examination.
Postgraduate programs of IIT Mandi:
A postgraduate scheme like M.Tech, M.S. and M.Sc. is also available in IIT-Mandi and also it provides an M.Sc. program in Chemistry, M.S. program in fields of basic sciences and engineering and M.Tech. In Energy Materials. The eligibility for admission of the candidates is, the applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Technology / Engineering or equivalent national level examination or master’s degree in appropriate Sciences with a valid score in GATE or GRE in appropriate discipline. If the candidate has any degree which is mentioned above, then the candidate will be called for the personal interview then according to the interview the admission will be given.
IIT-Mandi also provides a program for a Ph.D. in the field of basic sciences and engineering. The eligibility for admission, the applicant must have a Master’s degree in Technology / Engineering or a master’s degree in sciences and a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET or B. Tech. / B.E degree from any recognized University in India with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale or B. Tech degree of any IIT with a minimum of CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale.
Collaboration with tu9, Germany and WPI, USA:
IIT-Mandi has a cooperation program with foreign universities. To work on ‘Interdisciplinary Socio-technical Practicum (ISTP)’ with Mandi IIT students, some students come from WPI, USA. The ISTP, students survey the various social issues, and then for these, they suggest a solution on technology-based, then judge the solution from economic, technical, social and environmental.

The Institute firstly exists of Project Associates, Faculty, and Students divided across some schools. At present, there are four schools running in IIT-Mandi.

Student Life of IIT-Mandi:
At IIT-Mandi the student’s activities are divided into six different terms.
They are as follows:
It has a council of sports society who arranges all the sports programs such as Cricket, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Athletics, Chess both in Mandi and Kamand Campus. The literary society arranges for the English Debating between the students. The Academic Society calls students to take part in between the students and the professor and create a smooth atmosphere on the functioning of the academic activities.
It also helps the students to take part in various student exchange programs and internships. The Cultural Society consists of Choreography Club, Dramatics Club, Photography Club, and Music Club. The Technical Society consists of Energy Club, Electronics Club, Programming Club, Astronomy Club, Robotics Club, and Application Development club.
