NDA 1 2023 Application Modification & Withdraw has been Started from 18th – 24th January 2023. NDA 2023 Admit Card for Session 1, will be released soon through online mode. NDA (National Defense Academy) is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission)  entrance exam every year.

It is a national level entrance exam through which various candidates become eligible for selection into training academies of Indian Navy, Indian Military and Air Force. This national level exam is done twice a year (NDA I and NDA II) within the month of April and September.

Candidates have to qualify the entrance test followed by SSB interview rounds & medical tests in order to be eligible for entry into NDA. Below in this article, we have provided the complete details regarding the NDA 2023 latest updates.

What is NDA Exam?

NDA exam also known as the National Defence Academy is held twice a year by Union Public Service Commission for providing admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). It is the most sought-after defence entrance exams in the country where both male and female candidates can apply.

The exam is held in two stages: Written exam and SSB Interview. UPSC prepares a list of candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written exam. Such candidates are called for SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test.

NDA 2023 Application Form:

The necessary information regarding the applying form is mentioned below for the reference of the applicants:

  • The application form has been released on 21st December 2022 for 1st session and on 17th May 2023 for 2nd session.
  • Candidates can apply for both sessions through online mode.
  • The board will also provide the facility for withdraw of application within a certain period of time.
  • Candidates can withdraw their application from 3rd week of January 2023.
  • Students are suggested to fill the application carefully as no modification in the application will be allowed after submission of form.
  • Last date to fill application form will be till 10th January 2023 for 1st session and till 6th June 2023 for 2nd session.
  • There are two parts in registration process – Part I & Part II.
  • In Part I, candidates have to fill basic & other details in registration form.
  • In Part II, candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature, make choice of exam centre and make payment of application fee.
  • After completion of application process, candidates are advised to print the application form and keep it safely for any future reference.

Application Fee
The necessary data regarding the applying fee is mentioned below for the reference of the applicants:

Applicants got to pay Rs 100/- as an application fee for the test.
Applicants those who belong to a reserved class like SC, ST are exempted from the applying fee.
The application fee is paid in on-line mode by debit card or Mastercard or by internet banking or in any branch of SBI bank by cash.

NDA Eligibility Criteria 2023:

The necessary data regarding the eligibility criteria is mentioned below for the reference of the applicants:


  • Applying candidate must be Indian citizen/ subject of Nepal/ subject of Bhutan/ refugee of Tibetan who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention to settle permanently in India.
  • Candidates who have migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and east African countries of Zambia, Tanzania, Zaire, Ethiopia, Malawi, Uganda or Vietnam with an intention of settlement in India are also eligible.
  • Candidates who are foreign nationals (except Gorkhas) will be required to produce certificate of eligibility which is issued by Govt. of India.

Gender, Age & Marital Status:

  • Male & female both candidates are eligible to apply for NDA.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to marry until they complete their training period.
  • Applying candidate age should be between 16.5 to 19.5 years. For NDA I, the candidate must be born between 2nd July 2003 to 1st July 2006. For NDA II, the candidate must be born between 2nd January 2004 to 1st January 2007.


  • For Air Force & Naval Wings (Cadet entry scheme): Candidates must have passed 10th and 12th level with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • For Army Wing: Candidates must have passed 10th and 12th level from a recognised board or university.
  • Appearing: Students appearing for 12th level are also eligible to apply.


  • Applying candidates must be physically fit as per the physical standards set by the commission of NDA admissions.
  • Candidates who have withdrawn or resigned from any training academies of Armed forces on disciplinary grounds are not eligible.

NDA 2023 Exam Pattern:

The necessary information regarding the paper pattern is mentioned below for the reference of the applicants:

  • Mode of Exam: The paper will be conduct in offline (pen and paper) mode.
  • Number of Sections: In the paper, there will be two sections – Mathematics & General Ability.
  • Exam Duration: Applicants will be provided 5 hours to complete the paper (2 hours 30 minutes each for Mathematics and GA section).
  • Questions type: There will be objective type of questions in the paper.
  • Paper Language: The paper will be bilingual – in English as well Hindi language.
  • Marking pattern: For each wrong answer, 33% of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.

NDA 2023 Exam Syllabus:

Mathematics Paper I (Code No – 01):

Paper II (Code No – 02) – English & General knowledge:

There will be two parts in Paper II:

The question paper of English is going to be designed for testing the candidate’s understanding of English and a working man like the use of words. The curriculum covers numerous aspects like Vocabulary, comprehension, grammar and usage and cohesion in extended text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English

General Knowledge:
The question paper on public knowledge can broadly speaking cover topics from the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, earth science, and Current Events.

NDA 2023 exam Admit Card:

The official authority can give admit card to the applier before 3 weeks of the date of commencement of the entrance test.
It will be updated on the official web site of the university in online mode for the candidates.
Applicants got to login to the official web site of the university using the applying range and date of birth.

NDA 2023 Result:

The necessary data regarding the declaration of the results are mentioned below for the reference of the applicants:

Candidates will be able to check NDA result in the month of May 2023 for NDA I. For NDA II session, students will be able to check result in the month of November 2023. It will be available through online mode in the form of PDF.

The result/ merit list will show the names of qualified candidates who will be further eligible for SSB interview round and medical test. Candidates must keep their result card safely for further reference in admission procedure.

NDA 2023 Counseling:

NDA 2023 Cut Off

The cut off of NDA 2023 will be released through online mode for various categories. The cut off can vary for different categories. The cut off for written test will be 342 and the final cut off will be 708.

Applicants have to obtain prescribed NDA cut off marks in order to be eligible for participation for further interview process.

NDA 2023 SSB Interview

After the successful conclusion of written test, applicants who will be selected in the result/ merit list can go for SSB interview process. The SSB interview process will be of two stages – Stage I and Stage II.

Stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are picture perception & description test (PP & DT). Stage II comprises of interview, group testing officer tasks, psychology test and the conference. These tests will be organised over 4 days.
