NID Entrance Exam 2023: Application (Released), Exam Dates, Eligibility, Pattern

NID 2023 Application Form has been released on 22nd October 2022. NID 2023 Entrance Examination is conducted every year on a national level. It is organized by the National Institute of Design. This entrance examination is held to select eligible candidates for the various UG and PG courses in the field of design. Through this entrance examination, the admissions are offered in Bachelor of Design (B.Des.), Masters of Design (M.Des.), and Ph.D. in Design.

NID 2023 Application Form:

Before proceeding to fill the application form, candidates must go through the instructions given below:
Candidates need to register online before filling the online application form.
The application form has been started from the 22nd October 2022.
Candidates are going to be eligible to fill the NID 2023 application form till 16 December 2022.
The online application process involves various steps – Signup/ Registration, filling details in application form, uploading of documents and signature, payment of application fee and printing of application form.
Candidates need to upload the scanned photograph & signature.
Candidates also will be given the correction facility.
Reserve category candidates need to upload their relevant category certificate.

NID 2023 Application Fee:

The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable.
Candidates are going to be able to pay the application fee through credit carddebit card (online mode), or by demand draft (offline mode).
The demand draft is often prepared in favor of ‘All India Management Association’, payable at New Delhi.

NID Entrance Examination 2023 Eligibility Criteria:

All candidates applying for the B.Des. must fulfill the eligibility criteria of both age and
education qualification as under:

Age Limit:
● For Indian Nationals in General Category and General EWS Category: Only those
candidates born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible to apply for admission.
● For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBCNCL), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after
1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.
● For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after
1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
● For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born
on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible to apply for admission.

Educational Qualification:
Applications for academic year 2023-24 are open to candidates who have passed or will
appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2022–23 in
any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from any recognized board of
education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or equivalent.

For M.Des:

Age Criteria:
Indian Nationals in general Category & General EWS Category candidates born on or after 1 July 1991 are eligible to apply for admission.
Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply for admission.
Indian Nationals in person with Disabilities (PwD) Reserved Category candidates born on or after 1 July 1986 are eligible to apply for admission.
Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category candidates born on or after 1 July 19901 are eligible to apply for admission.

Qualification:
In addition to satisfying the above age criteria, the candidate must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:
Bachelor Degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard from any university or institute recognised by law in India.
Condition: Candidate must have passed the Bachelor Degree examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in May 2023*.
OR
Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard, from any university or institute recognised by law in India.
Condition: Candidates must have passed the Diploma examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in May 2023*.
OR
Bachelor Degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard.
Condition: Candidates must have passed the 3-year Bachelor degree examinations by August 2022.

NID Entrance Examination 2023 Exam Pattern:

No. of Marks: The question paper is going to be of 100 marks.
Duration of Exam: The exam is going to be for three hours.
Mode of Exam: The exam is going to be conducted through offline (pen/paper) mode.
Language of Exam: The exam is going to be asked in English.
Type of Questions: The questions are going to be of visual & textual type.

DAT Mains for M.Des program:

Studio test: Total marks of the exam are going to be 100 & the duration is going to be for three hours. It’ll be conducted in English only.
Interview: It’ll be conducted separately for each discipline after the studio test.

NID 2023 Syllabus:

The syllabus is going to be consisting of varied topics like Creativity, Comprehension, Knowledge and Visualization, Drawing Skills, Memory Drawing, General mental ability, etc.

For Studio Test, the syllabus is going to be comprised of the topics like 3D Modeling, body language, Observation Test, Portfolio making, creative thinking, etc

NID 2023 Entrance Examination Admit Card:

Admit cards are going to be available for download on the NID website as per the schedule through online mode. Candidates will be able to download the admit card from December 2022 for the prelim exam. There will be no admit card sent through post or any other offline mode. Candidates need to download and print their admit cards. Reporting time is going to be mentioned within the DAT Prelims admit card. the exact date & time of DAT Mains are going to be mentioned within the admit card.

NID 2023 Entrance Examination Preparation Tips:

Cover all the topics of the official syllabus.
Practice various mock tests & purchase a mock test from the market or the internet.
Solve previous year’s question papers and sample papers.
Make short notes on a daily basis after studying and revise them regularly.
Take healthy food and do yoga or meditation.

NID Entrance Examination 2023 Result:

To be considered for the merit list, a candidate must have appeared for all the tests in both the DAT Prelims and also the DAT Mains.

Separate result scorecards (digital or hard copy) won’t be provided to the candidates. The result is going to be released through online mode.

NID Entrance Examination 2023 Merit List:

Based on the DAT Prelims scores, the official authority will prepare the separate merit lists for every category. Only shortlisted candidates are going to be eligible to appear for the DAT Mains exam as per the schedule announced by the officials. The merit list is going to be published by the officials after a few days of the written examination through online mode.

NID Entrance Examination 2023 Admission:

Admission to all or any of the programs at NID is going to be based on the candidates’ performance within the two-stages of the Design Aptitude Test.

The candidates who are going to be selected on the basis of their performance are going to be called for counseling. At the time of admission, candidates got to submit their original certificates. After allotting the admission letter, candidates need to report the allotted campus for final admission.
