Thapar University 2027 Eligibility Criteria
For B.E/ B.Tech Programme:
- Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Subjects: Applicants should have studied Physics and Mathematics along with any one subject from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a Technical Vocational subject.
- Marks: A minimum of 60% marks in PCM/PCB is required, while SC/ST candidates are eligible with 55% marks.
- Entrance Test: Candidates must secure a valid score in JEE Main.
- Students appearing in 2027 are also eligible to apply.
For MBA Programme:
- Qualifying Exam: Candidates must hold a graduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline.
- Marks: A minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA is required, with a 5% relaxation for PwD, SC, and ST candidates.
- Final-year students are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates with qualifications such as CA/ACS/ICWA can also apply.
- Applicants must have a valid score in exams like CAT, XAT, GMAT, CMAT, or TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitude Test).
For B.E (Lateral Entry):
- Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens.
- Qualification: Candidates should have completed a diploma of at least 3 years duration after matriculation from a polytechnic institute affiliated with a State Board of Technical
- Education/University or recognized by UGC/AICTE.
- Alternatively, candidates with a minimum 2-year diploma after 10+2 from a recognized polytechnic institute are also eligible.

- Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology has released the application form for MBA programmes, and the registration process for B.Tech and other UG courses is also underway. Candidates can complete the application process online.
- While filling out the form, applicants must enter accurate personal, communication, and academic details. It is essential to ensure that all eligibility criteria are fulfilled before proceeding, as failure to meet them may result in application rejection.
- After completing the form, candidates are required to upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format.
- The last date for registration is 8th May 2027 for B.Tech and other UG courses, while for the MBA programme, it is 15th March 2027.
- For FN/NRI candidates, the final date to apply for all programmes is 31st July 2027.
- Before submitting the form, candidates should carefully verify all details, complete the submission, and keep a printed copy of the application form for future use in the admission process.

Candidates appearing for the TIET entrance test can check their results online. The Thapar University Result 2027 is expected to be announced within one week after the exam. To access the result, students must log in using their credentials on the official website.
The merit list will be prepared based on performance in JEE Main, the TIET entrance test, or the qualifying examination. In case of a tie, the university will follow a tie-breaking process to finalise rankings. Based on the merit list, candidates will be invited to participate in online or offline counselling.
Thapar University Counselling 2027
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) offers admission to B.Tech programmes based on the merit of JEE Main, 10+2 (or equivalent), or the TIET entrance test. The Thapar University 2027 counselling process will be conducted in both online and offline (in-person) modes and will begin after the release of the merit list.
The B.E./B.Tech counselling schedule will be published on the official website once the results of JEE Main 2027 or 10+2 examinations are declared. During the online counselling rounds, branch allotment will be determined based on merit, category-wise seat availability, and the preferences filled by candidates in the application form.
On Roll Candidates (ORC) are those who have paid the full fee and retained their seats, while Candidates Not On Roll (CNOR) are those who have withdrawn after fee submission. In subsequent rounds (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.), seat allocation will consider ORC candidates and those not yet allotted seats, strictly on the basis of merit.
The final branch/discipline allotment depends on factors such as seat availability in a particular course and category, the candidate’s preference order, and their merit rank.
