Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth formerly known as Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth is an Agricultural University established on 18th May 1972 and it is situated at Dapali in Ratnagiri district of the Indian State of Maharashtra. The institution changed its name to its present title on February 12, 2000.
Around 1500 students are admitted annually to the 19 distinct constituent and connected colleges in the Konkan region, which provide undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs. Ratnagiri District has the highest number of colleges among these 19, with 10, followed by Sindhudurg with 4, Raigad with 3, and Thane district with 2. Based on merit and entrance exam scores, the university offers admittance to a range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs (MHT-CET).
The University has won 32 awards in total from various organizations for various projects and services in the agricultural sector. Among the top honors are those from the “College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michigan State University, Michigan,” “Madrid University of Spain,” and “CIFCOT, Mumbai.”

The university was granted the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Best Institute Award in 1997. Rice, horticultural crops, fish, post-harvest technology, reclamation of Kharland, soil and water conservation, soil management, and animal production are the main areas of research at the university.
