IIT Delhi | Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, History, Campus, Cut off Marks

IIT Delhi is one of the well-known public engineering and research institutes of India, and also the government of India has announced the Institute as national important under the institutes of technology Act. IIT-Delhi is located in south Delhi in Hauz Khas and is surrounded by 325 acres of land. IIT-Delhi is also listed in the top list of (QS) Quacquarelli Symonds in 2015 around universities globally. IIT-Delhi in short form is also called IITD.

History of IIT Delhi:

IIT-Delhi is a public research institute which is located in New Delhi India and was established in the year of 1961. To established the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi the Delhi Technological University’s departments of Chemical Technology and Textile Technology were then shifted to another block. Thus the Delhi Technology University is the leading department of IIT.

The college which was named as the College of Engineering and Technology was registered as a form of society in the year 1960, and the education classes began of IIT-Delhi in 1961. The college was then later named according to the status of the university as Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

The Campus of IIT-Delhi:

The IIT is located in south Delhi in Hauz Khas. IT also has a big campus that consists of 325 acres of land and is surrounded totally by the fantastic Hauz Khas area and the old monuments such as the Lotus Temple and the Qutub Minar of Delhi. The IIT is also nearby to many other institutes such as Jawaharlal Nehru University, National Institute fo Fashion Technology, Indian Statistical Institute, All India Institute of Medical Science and National Council of Educational Research and Training. The campus inside look is very green and beautiful like a whole city that has gardens, lawns, accommodation buildings hostels, and the education buildings with his water supply and with electricity backups.

The campus also has its shopping building to fulfill the daily need of the students and staff of IIT-Delhi. The IIT campus is created in four areas such as the student’s accommodation area which is dived into two sectors one for girls residing and the other for boys residing. The second area is for the staff and professors accommodation residents. The third area is the academic zone which has all the institute’s offices, libraries, workshops and lecture theaters.

The fourth area is the Student Activity Center which has all the sports ground such as swimming pool, football ground, cricket ground, hockey ground, stadium, basketball court, and tennis court.
For accommodation of the students, there are 13 hostels in which the 11 hostels are for boys, and the two hostels are for girls and are named as the mountain ranges in India.

The program such as ‘House Day’ is done at the end of the year in which both the batches students the newcomers and the passing out students give various types of functions and the award ceremony is also formed on that day.

Student Activity Center of IIT Delhi:

The Student Activity Center also called SAC is a student fun zone in IIT-Delhi. The SAC is the extra activities and sports for the students such as gymnasium, billiard rooms, squash court, swimming pool, badminton court, music room, a robotic room, a fine arts room and a committee room which is usually used for the quiz and debates program between the students.

The SAC also consists of an open-air theater where the students are hosted. There are some bodies made by the students in IIT-Delhi such as Board of student welfare (BSW), Board for Recreational and Creative Activities (BRCA), Board for Student Publications (BSP) and the Board for Sports Activities (BSA). Among all the bodies the biggest student bodies of IIT-Delhi is the Student Affairs Council (SAC) in which all the other student organizations are included under the SAC.

The Joint Entrance Examination JEE is compulsory for admission in all this program given above. It is also the toughest exam in which the students have to prepare carefully because every year about million students appear for this exam, but only a few thousand of them can crack them.
